Course Description:

Whether you want to start your own business or become an invaluable asset to your employer, this one unit course is for you! Students will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in our rapidly changing and interconnected business environment. Students will explore all aspects of starting and maintaining a business, including advertising, marketing, human resources, customer service, and finance. Computers and Internet technology will be integrated throughout the course enabling students to see how businesses compete in a global economy. Throughout the semester, students will put their knowledge into practice through the development of a business plan. Public speaking, writing, and reading skills will also be enhanced.

Digital Multimedia I
1 Unit • Grades 10, 11, 12

None

Course Description:

This course will give students the opportunity to explore topics and technologies they are interested in through a self-paced, hands-on curriculum. Students will gather information about a topic of choice and use a variety of software packages to design and create multimedia communications, digital narratives, presentations, videos, and written and electronic documents that contain text, images, animation and sound. Students will have the opportunity to operate a variety of digital equipment including scanners, digital cameras, and video cameras.  Students should possess strong grammar skills and have the ability to read and follow directions.

Digital Multimedia Marketing II
1 Unit • Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite:

Grade of 85 or better in Digital Multimedia I

Course Description:

This project-based curriculum develops career and communication skills in video production for the purpose of marketing and promotion. Students will plan and execute a storyboard for producing podcasts, DVDs, video blogs, webcasts, and video projects. This course develops knowledge in storytelling, capturing and editing video and audio, and finalizing content with Final Cut Express, Adobe Premiere, and iMovie. Students become skilled in the use of a scanner, digital cameras, and digital camcorders.

Foundations of Animation
1 Unit • Grades 10, 11, 12

Course Description:

This course is designed to give students experience developing animations, interactivity, computer graphics, modeling, and character animation.  This course examines the features of Adobe’s hugely popular Flash software.  Students create and modify movies using objects, graphics, sound, animation, and special effects. Students must have the ability to read and follow step-by-step instructions for success in this course.

Web Design I
1 Unit • Grades 10, 11, 12

None

Course Description:

This information technology course includes a project-based curriculum that teaches the professional web design process using HTML, Dreamweaver, and FireWorks. The design and production projects include:  digital photographs, logo design, an electronic portfolio, and basic client websites. Emphasis will be placed on creating exciting and efficient websites that attract the desired audience. Students will learn web design in preparation for higher education or jobs in the Internet Economy.  Students should possess strong grammar skills and have the ability to read and follow directions.

Course Description:

This course explores advanced web design, primarily as it relates to a business model. Students will utilize advanced web design techniques and technology including, but not limited to: Adobe Fireworks, Flash, and Dreamweaver. Using these technologies, students will create functional, interactive web pages that use a client-based system for design.
